Scot DiStefano has been commissioned to design a new residence in the Riviera Isles neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale. Located on the north end of Solar Isle the property is bounded on two sides by water with a tranquil view across a small bay area.
Scot DiStefano has been commissioned to design a new residence in the Croissant Park neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale. The property was significantly damaged by fire in January of 2009. Of particular task is bridging the psychological barrier of demolishing a cherished home, designing something new and simultaneously retaining the charm and character of the original home.
Found throughout the property is an air plant commonly referred to as the Resurrection Fern. The Resurrection Fern gets its name because it can survive long periods of drought by curling up and appearing dead. With the presence of moisture, the fern will uncurl, reopen and turn from brown to green, appearing to resurrect. Portions of the original structure will be retained while creating a the new home. Hence, it seemed appropriate both literally and metaphorically, to name it as such.
Scot DiStefano has been commissioned to design a new residence in Biscayne Park, Florida. While he normally allows the house to name itself, this parcel of land is abundantly adorned with various orchid species, it seems appropriate to acknowledge this beauty with both the design and the name.
Giller & Giller Inc. has invited Scot DiStefano to participate in the Tribute to Champions Competition for Super Bowl XLIV. The Super Bowl Host Committee, along with Gerdau Steel, is requesting a tribute to the teams who have achieved professional football’s ultimate goal in South Florida. They have requested a “massive art deco inspired structure to be built from recycled Orange Bowl / Dolphin Stadium steel, to span South Beach’s Ocean Drive”.
Scot worked as a project Architect for Giller & Giller following graduation and has been invited by Ira Giller to team up once again.
Giller & Giller Inc. is one of Miami Beach’s oldest and well established architectural firms, and is one of ten Miami area firms invited to participate in the competition.
